Help us rebuild

On July 5, 2025, a flood destroyed three family homes, our family spice business, our barns, our livestock, and thirty-six years of work on Sandy Creek. We are rebuilding — elevated above the floodplain, powered by the sun, working with the creek instead of against it — as a place the whole community can use and learn from.

Where things stand. The Sandy Creek community and our extended family have already contributed $343,000 in donations, labor, and materials. Our family has committed $500,000 of our own funds. $600,000 remains — and that is the stretch your gift funds.

About your donation

The Asher Acres rebuilding project is fiscally sponsored by Gifted Dreamers, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 39-3863796). Donations are made to Gifted Dreamers, which receives and administers them on behalf of the Asher Acres rebuilding project, and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You will receive a receipt from Gifted Dreamers. Please consult your tax advisor about your own situation.

Donations support the rebuilding of Asher Acres as a living demonstration of resilient rural design: elevated flood-resistant construction, renewable energy and battery storage, rainwater harvesting, barrier-free accessibility, riparian and pollinator habitat restoration, and shared community gathering space.

What we promise you

Every contribution represents confidence in a shared vision, and we take that seriously. Supporters receive regular project updates, photographs, and honest reporting — on the setbacks as well as the milestones. You can read the running log any time on our updates page.

When the work is done, we would like to welcome you back to Asher Acres. Not for a ribbon cutting — for a seat at the table.
